Vorige week verscheen in de media in Gambia het bericht dat de stichting Helping Hands uit Poppel alweer een donatie had gedaan, dit keer aan het Farafenni Ziekenhuis.

In lovende volzinnen, Afrikaanse stijl danken de bestuursleden van het ziekenhuis de stichting voor de moderne medische apparatuur die plechtig werden overhandigd aan de CEO van het Farafenni Hospital.

Helping Hand Foundation Donates To Farafenni General Hospital

The management of Farafenni General Hospital has hailed the stronger partnership that exists between Helping Hand Foundation of Antwerp Banjul Challenge for strengthen healthcare services and contribution for the attainment of quality health for all. The presentation ceremony was held at the hospital ground in North Bank Region.

It could recalled that earlier in 2018, the foundation donated ambulance, following the hospital ambulance that referral of patients to Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital Banjul hospital involvement in an accident,

Recently, Helping Hand Foundation of Antwerp Banjul Challenge donated medical equipment to the surgical department, the donated items includes Bacterial Filters, Manual Breathing Bags, Gynecological Beds, Doppler’s, Glucose meters, Infusion pumps.

The donation was made possible through tripartite partnership between Helping Hands Foundation, Antwerp-Banjul Challenge and Department of Community Development.

The equipment handing over to Farafenni General Hospital Chief Executive Officer Wandifa Samateh, on behalf of the donor and Department of Community Development by Ousman Sonko Senior Lecturer at Rural Development Institute (RDI) and the man behind the partnership.

He reiterated the donor unflinching support to the hospital to enhance effective and efficient health care service delivery.

Sonko expressed commitment for management of equipment donated to the hospital by the staff, saying that the move aims to complement government efforts in providing quality health care services for the inhabitants in the rural areas.

He noted that the recent follow up visit by team from Department of Community Development realize that the equipment and materials has provided services within the region and beyond.

He also said future plan is to support the hospital with essential equipment and drugs that would help to strengthen capacity and drastically reduce referral of patients to Banjul, stressing that all this can only be attain if staff are fully committed to support in providing quality health care services. Wandifa Samateh, Chief Executive Officer of the hospital underscored the significant the management and board attaches to strengthen quality health services for patients. He said the donation of ambulance and other medical supplies and equipment has contributed immensely in boosting services.

He hailed the donor for empowering the hospital management to come with list of equipment and prioritize base on the need of hospital. He said the donation is the second of its kind and is based on mutual trust and commitment to support the health sector of attaining quality health for all.

Hospital boss assured that donation will be proper management, safeguard and ensure maximum durability of equipment. He challenged the hospital staff and the beneficiary department Medical and Surgical to be more proactive handling the equipment.

The hospital management calls for more support from donors and others to enable them increase effective and sustain on-going efforts.He hailed efforts of nurses, doctors and all for their invaluable contribution to improvement health condition of patients.

Famara Sillah Hospital Administrator thanked the donor for the fulfilment of their promises and assured the management zero tolerance of improper management of equipment.

Sireh Drammeh Head of Medical and Surgical ward delivered vote of thanks and she reiterated their delight to strengthen the unit.
